BEIRUT: The Union Coordination Committee launched Tuesday a petition to gather 1 million signatures demanding the salary scale increase be implemented.
During a news conference at UNESCO Palace, committee head Hanna Gharib launched a new phase of protests to put pressure on Parliament to endorse the salary increase.
“This petition is meant to reach the largest number of Lebanese to tackle the main issues and problems that they suffer from,” Gharib said, calling on all Lebanese to participate in the initiative regardless of sectarian disputes.
The campaign aims to gather at least 1 million signatures supporting a Parliament decision to endorse the wage hike as per the agreement the Cabinet reached with the committee earlier this year.
