" Societies thrive when the most vulnerable are taken care of "
" My name is Suzanne, I am a 38 years old, mother of 3 teenagers.
My husband deserted us when my 3rd boy was a toddler still. I have been working odd jobs to raise my family and provide them with the basic necessities.
Few years back, my life took a heavy turn when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The treatment was unsuccessful they had to remove the left breast. As I am not covered by NSSF and do not have access to medical insurance, I relied on the help of BASSMA.
This year, I pulled myself together and resumed work as a cleaner. Just as things were settling in, fate sent me three unexpected surprises simultaneously at the start of this holiday month. First I have received an order to vacate by Dec. 31, 2012 the tiny 2 rooms apartment we are renting in Ain El Remmaneh. The second news is Cancer is back and my right breast is in urgent need of chemotherapy. The third, I have brittle bones in my feet causing me severe pain thus I am incapable of doing any work to earn any money to pay for my treatment or to find a place to shelter my family.
I need help! I need to keep my family together this winter. I need stay on my feet to meet their needs! "
Suzanne's children are currently all sick and bedridden because of the cold weather, knowing that rain is falling inside their rooftop house, and water is filling the ground of the entire house.
They are also suffering from rough anemia (also called thalassaemia minor).
Suzanne stopped working, they don't have any revenue anymore, they don't even have 500LBP to buy medicines and vitamins. She is now selling her belongings and furniture offered by BASSMA to be able to survive.
Suzanne has gone through a lot lately, from medical exams to Biopsies, MRI, etc.
Now, Suzanne's health condition has significantly improvedthanks to BASSMA's support and medical follow-up.
Now, she's feeling much better and is ready to work.
Although she's illiterate,Suzanne is ready to do anything to meet the needs of her three children, andwould love to work in any position that doesn't require much physical effort, reading/writing.
All job offers in this sense are most welcome!
