A call for action to help the lonely elderly who cannot support themselves, who are still trying to find a job when RETREAT is all they should be thinking of.
Today, a 65-years old lady, Samira, came to BASSMA's office in tears, helpless and confused...Abandoned by the society, and by her children, she lives alone with her hemiplegic husband. She works as a cleaner to survive and buy medicines for her husband. Lately, the owner increased the rent and threatened to move them out.
BASSMA team was here to support her, paying her rent for the month of January 2013 and found her a job as a cook in a family living nearby, so she could pay her rent and rely on herself.
She expressed her gratitude with lots of emotions and sadness, saying that "in order to survive in this country as a human being in her situation, demands from her to work for the last day of her life..."
If you want to help Samira, please contact BASSMA at 01-383938 (Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 3pm).
