"The mother is everything - she is our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery, and our strength in weakness. She is the source of love, mercy, sympathy, and forgiveness. He who loses his mother loses a pure soul who blesses and guards him constantly." -- Gibran Khalil Gibran
On Sunday March 21st, on Mother’s Day, BASSMA gathered 70 people of its families for an outing to one of the most magical cultural destinations in Lebanon: BYBLOS!
Most of them had never been to this tourist place before and thus, were very excited to discover the monuments in this region.
On that day, people arrived early in the morning to Badaro, our gathering point. A Pullman was waiting for them there. They were enthusiastic, eager to discover a new city in Lebanon, and very excited to start the day they have been dreaming of for so long.
The Pullman’s first stop was at Saint Jean-Marc Church in Byblos, where Father Pierre Saade shared with the group the historical background of the church.
Afterwards, people visited the famous fortress of Byblos. Then, the group went to the port of Byblos and took a twenty minute boat tour. Surrounded by a calm sea, a clear sky, and a pleasant weather, people enjoyed a moment of serenity and bliss, far from daily problems and troubles.
Following the boat tour, a lunch in a Lebanese restaurant was in the plan. At arrival, tables were already set up. BASSMA’s families were ecstatic with the mezze, machawi, drinks, music, and the traditional narguileh. Everyone danced and partied in a pleasurable atmosphere. It was an unforgettable moment of joy and happiness for all.
At the end of the day, children offered their moms gifts, new clothes and a set of towels.
Touched, happy and a slightly tired, families returned to Beirut with a smile on their faces….
What an unforgettable day!
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms in the world!
