"For me, being member of BASSMA doesn't mean working in a charitable organization only. I had the opportunity to join the volunteers of BASSMA in 2010. During this year, the organization had already set a strategic plan of development, and the focus was mainly on how to reinforce the group of volunteers.

From the first meetings, I was able to recognize that the administrators of BASSMA work to assure that all the work and the qualifications of the volunteers are oriented to serve the main objective of the organization, and that is the rehabilitation of the underprivileged families, through a structured personalized program.

However, I also noticed that all those actions are taking place in a very active and friendly atmosphere, with a motivated and respectful team who has a very solid relation with the deprived people whom they help. This solid relation exists thanks to the policy of BASSMA that allows to each volunteer to choose his own function in the field of the organization, so that each action is based on the chosen responsibility of the volunteers.

My enrollment in the Family Commission offered me the chance to meet EVA, a grandmother who suffered from social, financial and familial tragedies but who is very hopeful about a better future awaiting her and her family. I decided to devote myself to serve this family through regular visits.

Being a generous and devoted volunteer in BASSMA proved to be a magnificent and encouraging experience on the personal level. That's why I invite everyone who wishes to experience the happiness of helping people to join BASSMA."

"Today, I went for the first time to visit the family I am responsible of. Nothing but the idea of visiting an underprivileged family, made me feel very satisfied. When I arrived, I was shy but it took only some minutes to feel very comfortable. Fortunately, this family was very friendly and its members wanted to help and get helped.

Actually, they have lots of problems but we can feel that they are willing to get over their situation, which gave me a lot of strength and made me more determined to help them to solve their problems.

At the end of my visit, I felt that I am part of this family. I left feeling very happy as if I achieved a lot of things although I didn't even start. But what is more important is the influence that this family had on me. It wasn't me who was helping them. In fact they were the ones helping me with their love and gratitude.

In only two visits, I felt I am very much attached to this family and also very useful.
